Hisense Broadband Launches 800G Linear Drive Optical Cable for AI/ML Applications
2023-03-07 08:52:05
San Jose, California, March 7, 2023— Hisense Broadband Multimedia Technology Co., Ltd. (Hisense Broadband) announced a new 800G linear Driver Optical Cable for AI/ML applications, and will have a live demonstration of the optical link at the OFC 2023. This product is based on 100Gb/s per lane optics and eliminates the Digital Signal Processor (DSP) to reduce the power consumption and improve the system latency.
The industry has been looking for a low-power, low-cost, low-latency linear drive solutions to address the power and latency challenges posed by DSP/CDR platform. Hisense Broadband named this new product as Optical Direct Attach Cable (oDACTM) as it can be considered as a counterpart of Direct Attach Cable in optical domain with an extended transmission reach.

Hisense's linear drive oDAC eliminates the CDR/DSP to reduce power consumptions, and improves the system linearity by delicate signal integrity design. By leveraging the increasingly powerful equalization and compensation capabilities of the latest switch, 5e-7 pre-FEC BER floor was achieved over 50-meter OM4 multimode fiber with ~10dB channel loss, and no uncorrectable post FEC error happened in the system traffic test. The power consumption is as low as 4 watts per 800G OSFP end.
